Course - Bookkeeping
When I left college I had no knowledge in bookkeeping and or even what a job like that would consist. The Training Academy has taught me everything I need to know to start off my career from how to identify the different types of entries needed in bookkeeping to the different types of software that is available. I have learnt everything from credit control to bank reconciliations and beyond.
I know that The Training Academy can also take me through to the next level needed to enhance my career path even further. The knowledge I have learned from the tutor has helped me to progress my career with a global company.

Course - Introduction to the Superyacht Industry
Our trainer was a highly experienced ex-chief stewardess and an excellent trainer who covered everything from the realities to the practical elements of life on board.
I learnt how to prepare a bed and clean a master bedroom and bathroom, which was then inspected by our trainer and critiqued by the other delegates so we could all learn from one another. Next we covered ironing and laundry and the correct way to prepare bedding, table cloths and uniform. At the end of this element we were individually tested and scored on the laundry symbols to check that we had absorbed the information. At each stage our trainer was on hand to guide, encourage and correct which made the experience far more enjoyable and interactive. We then moved onto table laying and presentation. Napkin folding was fun, who knew there were so many ways! How to serve wine and drinks was pretty intensive especially when we had to serve one another, not as easy as it looks and practice is certainly required, our trainer made it look so easy. Everything was covered from choosing the correct wine to accompany a meal to ordering, cleaning rosters and correct storage of food and wine throughout the yacht. All the elements of what is expected from a stewardess were covered.
The whole course really made me think about all the different aspects of life on board, how hard it can be at times but also how much fun it can be. We were all graded, given feedback and a certificate of completion before we went home which is recognised as part of the GUEST programme and a great addition to my CV.
